Synopsis
Luiz (80) is lost in the old folk’s home after helping his best friend die. All he wants is to get back to his home to die in peace. He runs away from the home and gets on a bus headed for the outback. Dying of thirst, Luiz walks through the arid countryside until fainting. Fatima (75) and Yara (7) find and take care of the old man. They take him to his old house, now in ruins where he comes upon his family’s tomb and his dream comes true. But then, when he decides to hang himself, Fatima intervenes in the desperate act – an enormous lizard has climbed into Yara’s ear and is eating her brain. The only way to save her is by performing a ritual: Fatima yanks out his eyes and the three of them head to a mysterious island to offer the old man’s eyes to the crabs to cure Yara. Luiz now wants to live.
