About the Production Company

The Moçambique Audiovisual was founded by Mauricio Macedo and born from the desire to produce films rooted in cultural aspects from Ceará and Northeastern Brazil with one eye looking out over the horizon.

Between 2016 and 2017, the company organized film screenings at the Dragão do Mar Center of Art and Culture in Fortaleza, including “Eddie Saeta - O Cinema Feito com o Coração", "Cinema e Resistência" and "Cinema em Transe".

In 2019, the production company released “Greta”, by Armando Praça, in co-production with Carnaval Filmes and Segredo Filmes, at the 69th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival. The film screened at more than 20 international festivals and won awards such as Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Film at Cine Ceará 2019.

In 2022, Moçambique released two of its first original projects: “Fortaleza Hotel”, by Armando Praça, and the series “Benfica Girls”, by Roberta Marques, for Canal Brasil, in which the company served as co-producer. In 2025, it released “Glory & Freedom”, by Letícia Simões, at Olhar de Cinema in Curitiba, and in 2026 it releases and distributes the fiction feature “I Built a Rocket Imagining Your Arrival”, by Janaína Marques.

At the moment, Moçambique is producing two animated feature films: “The Crab's Eyes” (in pre-production), by Janaína Marques and Pablo Arellano; and the miniseries “Fortaleza Paraíso” (in post-production) and the animated series “O Faz de Conta do Sítio” (post), both directed by Janaína Marques and Pablo Arellano. In 2026, the company will also shoot the fiction feature films “Paulércia” and “Forever Young”.
